Okay so we've all been away a while, tried other MMOs, etc. For me personally...nothing has proven anywhere even remotely as worthy of my time as
-The game is awesome. Seriously it is the best available MMO. It has the best-designed game world, the best source material, the best community, and the most hobbits out of any MMO.
-The Barrovian Sociey, i.e. the only kinship** worth joining, is on the Landroval server.
-To join said kinship you either have to be a registered member on the Penny Arcade forums, or be married to one.
-Upon hearing this, if you still wish to beg for admission into The Barrovian Society, simply type "/joinchannel PennyArcade wang" in your chat box in-game and ask if there is an officer available who can invite you.
-Any further terms of your admission are left solely in the hands of the officer who was unfortunate enough to be the target of your incessant pestering.
-Don't roll a male elf. They draw some...unwanted attention from certain...unfavorable types. Why rolling a male elf means there's a greater chance that you enjoy yaoi is beyond me. Just spare yourself the aggravation.
-Upon joining, every recruit is promoted to the rank of Kinsman or Kinswoman depending on whether or not your sex organs dangle. Only the worthy are awarded the title of Officer. Don't ask what makes one "worthy", as it is something that is completely arbitrarily determined by me on a day-to-day basis depending fully on my current mood and how well my penis performed the evening prior.
NEW RULE: If you are offline for more than 600 days you will be expelled from the kinship. It helps keep clutter to a minimum when browsing through the kin roster, and I figure it's a good cutoff point seeing as we've never really had anyone return after that long.
Also, there are no bad classes to play in LOTRO. With the recent Isengard expansion, every class has seen its share of attention from the devs, and it seems they've all become OP in their own right. Play what sounds fun to you.
Good talk.
**"Kinship" is the fancy LOTRO word for guild
Addendum: This is a map that allows you to pick a region and an object, and see it's approximate coordinates. It's not 100% accurate, but extraordinarily helpful nonetheless. No longer must we solely rely on the sometimes-broken quest tracker to help us find that elusive NPC or those hard-to-find random useless objects we've been asked to collect.
